Cave Adventure, Mosaics, and Wine
Experience La Palma in a completely new way – through an adventure that dives deep into the volcanic past of the island and delights the senses with art and wine. This special tour combines the exploration of a lava tunnel, a visit to an artistic mosaic park, and a relaxing wine tasting.
A Glimpse Inside the Earth: The Lava Tube
Your adventure begins with an exciting expedition into the interior of a lava tunnel formed in 1949. Equipped with a helmet and headlamp, you will explore the fascinating passages of the San Juan Volcano. Along the way, you’ll learn how lava tubes are formed and how these natural caves have been used for thousands of years. Inside this gigantic cave, you will be overwhelmed by the unique structure of the lava rocks and the mysterious atmosphere. The walls and ceilings shimmer like stars – and you might even spot ancient cave paintings, hinting at early rituals.
Art in Nature: The Mosaic Park La Glorieta Back on the surface, the adventure continues artistically. You will hike over lava fields to the famous Mosaic Park “La Glorieta” in Las Manchas. Here, artist Luis Morera, a student of the renowned César Manrique, has created impressive artworks using colorful tiles. Giant lizards, flowers, and other natural symbols are depicted in a vibrant mosaic that harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding landscape and local flora. This park is a place of tranquility and beauty, where nature and art come together.
A Delightful Finish: Wine Tasting at the Wine Museum
After your artistic stroll over the lava fields, a relaxed conclusion awaits you at the cozy wine museum. Here, you’ll learn more about the tradition of winemaking in La Palma’s lava regions and have the chance to taste some of the island’s finest wines. A perfect ending to a day full of adventure and impressions!
